About Coorie
Coorie started for a pretty simple reason: for a long time, I couldn't sleep.
Not in a dramatic way. I'd just get into bed exhausted and then lie there, brain running, doing the math on how many hours I'd get if I fell asleep right now. It was the hardest part of my day, every day. And like a lot of people, I tried to buy my way out of it. Gadgets, apps, melatonin every night. Most of it didn't help, and some of it left me feeling worse in the morning.
What actually fixed it was boring. Getting my room cool, dark, and quiet. Building a simple wind-down routine and sticking to it. Cheap, unglamorous stuff that no one's trying to sell you because there's no money in it. Slowly, that got me from someone who couldn't fall asleep to someone who sleeps well almost every night.
That's why Coorie exists. Most sleep advice online is either fluff or someone pushing a miracle product. I wanted the honest version, what genuinely helped me, the things that didn't, and the tradeoffs nobody mentions. No hype, no overpromising. Just real, first-hand tips from someone who's actually been in it.
Down the line I'll add a small set of simple sleep essentials, the kind of thing I actually use and would recommend to a friend. Nothing I haven't tried myself, and nothing I wouldn't use.
The name, by the way, is a Scottish word. Coorie means to snuggle in somewhere warm and cozy. That's the whole feeling I'm going for.
One honest note: I'm not a doctor, just someone who figured out their own sleep the hard way. If you're dealing with something more serious, that's worth talking to a professional about. But if you're just someone whose brain won't shut off at night, I've been there, and I hope some of this helps.
If you're lying awake right now, start with The Coorie Journal. Welcome to Coorie.
